about the blog.

Anna started this blog on July 14, 2004 in conjunction with a long-gone bravenet web site she started in high school. (She does not deny she is a nerd. She also enjoys writing in third person.) She relocated the blog to Blogger sometime in 2005, but the changes go deeper than the URL. Exploring the relatively new field of blogging, she (hopefully) has grown to be a more interesting and engaging blogger with a deeper understanding of what it means to share her words with you, the reader. Anna would never dream of deleting old posts, even the lame ones, because she loves how blogs document life. Each post is a snapshot, and the blog is the photo album.

Just like it's fun to pull out that photo of chubby baby Ian and watch home movies, it's fascinating to read old posts and see what the author thought was relevant and interesting then, and how perspectives change.

Right now, this blog is a way for friends and family, now far away, to keep up with our lives. A place to share our creativity in words and photos. A soapbox to encourage others to join us in our effort to live simply and generously, with an awareness of how we impact creation.

Thanks for visiting—blogging is less fun without readers! Don't forget to leave comments. Comments are like hugs. Sometimes bloggers feel insecure and a hug... "It’s like an emotional Heimlich. Someone puts their arms around you and they give you a squeeze and all your fear and anxiety come shooting out of your mouth in a big wet wad and you can breath again." (Name that TV show!)

And know that though I might not respond individually to every comment (balancing my time is essential to my mental health) I read and cherish every single one.
